Lactitol is a disaccharide alcohol produced by the reduction reaction of lactose, it is a white crystalline or crystalline powder, or a colorless liquid, easily soluble in water. The main forms of lactose alcohol are liquid lactose alcohol and crystalline lactose alcohol. Odourless and sweet, the sweetness is 30% ~ 40% of sucrose, and the calories are about half of sucrose. Lactitol can be used alone or mixed with other sweeteners to replace sucrose food with low caloric value. The U.S. FDA has granted it GRAS (recognized safe) status, with no limit on daily intake. China approved it can be used in ice cream, beverage, milk beverage and cakes as food additives.
